School Policies

Uniform Policy

All Lower and Middle School students are required to purchase our uniforms, which are distributed directly through our uniform provider, Risse Brothers.  All parents must also ensure their child is properly dressed  prior to arrival for classes at Discovery Academy. A copy of the Uniform Policy Agreement must be signed before the student’s first day of school. While we strive to promote a creative learning environment, we also desire to create a sense of equality and pride in every student. Therefore, the Uniform Policy Agreement must be strictly adhered to or the student may face possible expulsion.

Arrival and Dismissal Policy

To avoid congestion, we ask that you not park in the drop-off circle at any time. Parking is defined as leaving your car unattended in these areas or sitting in your car without moving. If you are caught parked in the circle during school business hours, a fine may be added to your account balance.

Tuition Payment Policy

Payment options include cash, check, credit/debit card and automatic withdrawal. Depending on your payment plan, tuition is due by Tuesday of each month or first Tuesday of each trimester. A $10.00/day fee will be assessed on late payments. If tuition is not paid by Friday of the same week, the student cannot return to school and risks losing his/her slot until balance is paid in full. Checks should be made payable to “Discovery Academy.”  To setup automatic withdrawal, please visit the front office to obtain the necessary paperwork.

School Entry Policy

Access to educational areas is facilitated by electronic keypad in the school foyer.  Please do not share the school entry code with anyone you do not know well. Be prepared to show driver’s license or comparable state ID, as they will be checked before a student is authorized to leave. Only persons on your child’s emergency contact will be allowed to pick-up. Changes must be in made to the office in writing.

Scheduled Visit Policy

Visitor passes must be requested and authorized at least 48 hours in advance for the safety of students and faculty/staff. Once on-site, there is to be no wandering hallways or entering classrooms without expressed approval of the office. No lunch-time visits, please. To schedule your visit, please call 386.428.0860 x4.

Teacher Conference Policy

Teachers are on premises to teach your children, not to chat with parents/adults during school hours. If you’d like to schedule a parent conference, please call 386.428.0860 x4, email, or send a handwritten note to your child’s teacher via the front office. All conferences must be agreed to and confirmed by all parties at least 48 hours in advance.
